How To Pay For Braces / Orthodontics

Want to pay for braces with pre-tax money (in other words get a tax write-off)? This is a solution for anyone who has to pay for all or part of their own health insurance. First you get a "HSA" compatible health plan.

If you get one of these health plans, then you are eligible to get a "Tax Qualified" special bank account called an "HSA". This allows you to pay for healthcare expenses with pretax dollars.

Though an HSA compatible health insurance plan does not cover dental insurance or braces, an HSA account can be used to pay for dental work and braces (and vision too). Even if only one person in the family has an HSA, they can use money from it to pay for medical, dental and vision expenses for anyone in the family.

An HSA compatible health insurance plan has a high deductible and typically you pay for everything until the deductible is met, there are no Dr. copays etc. Because of this, the monthly cost is low. With the money you save, you use it to put into your HSA bank account.

To get a quote on an HSA compatible health plan, go to our home page and choose your state. You will get to a page where you can put in your age and zip code and see quotes for many health plans. You look for the low cost ones that say HSA.

Please note that many people who get and HSA plan, prefer to also get a low cost accident medical and dental insurance plan that fills in their deductible in case of an accident. You can see details on that plan by clicking here: Accident Plan
